Peru, Bolivia and Peru again. Crossing borders

Immagine
After few days in Arequipa I took a night bus to Puno and then another bus to Copacabana in Bolivia. Diego, a Chilean guy met in San Pedro, invited me for an electronic music festival, on the Isla del Sol. Four days camping at Titicaca lake, the highest of the world. It's absolutely magic. For the first time in my South American trip, for a while I'll share my road with someone. Diego is gonna play some of his music in few festival around Cusco. So we've been going around together in the last week. Toño joined us. Cusco, and now Pisac in Sacred valley, are full of history. We knew. But we are still surprised. The power we feel walking around keeps us excited to discover new streets, monuments, treks. And parties, obviously. On the 25th of April it was my birthday too. So one more excuse to dance 🎉🎊

The legendary "Death road" ☠☠

La ruta de la muerte is not just a legend, it's a real super dangerous road. And this is why Yes, this is my clavicle. I can say now I have south America stumped on my skin 😜 It uses to be the only road connecting La Paz with the Youngas region, but now it is mainly used by tourists and travellers. While in the 90's there were cars falling over the edge every 2weeks, now the accidents are "reduced" to about 20 people dead since the 2000. In fact it's now theatre of one of the most thrilling tour to book in La Paz. Tour operators take you outside La Paz where biking 64km downhill till Coroico. The panorama is beautiful although sometimes very scary. A small mistake going down the hill it would cost a life. A private insurance is mandatory I'd say it's still worth it. But make sure you book with the right tour company and ride very slow. My clavicle is ok btw 😁 the clinic was great and the nurses and staff were rea...

La Paz is not the capital of Bolivia 😂😂

It's not the capital but in La Paz there are all the government offices, including the official residence of the President of Bolivia. Strange? Well, not as the number of the official languages. We can count about 36 idioms, but the ones still spoken are 14, including Spanish, Quechua, Aymara and other indigenous idioms. More, Bolivia is not a "one nation, one state" country, but a pluri-national state. In La Paz, I guess it's possible to see all this mix of culture, languages and background, which make of it a unique city. As unique it's its urban transport system, characterized by the so-called teleférico. It has 8 lines of different colours and can be used to fly over the city and skip the crazy Bolivian traffic jam. It has a vibrant life in the city center but it's also possible to visit some quiet place such as Valle de la luna, or the Muela del diablo, just outside the town. I'd recommend to visit the Coca museum, where to read all th...

Torotoro: the real Jurassic Park

Immagine
The National Park of Torotoro a magical place. There are few holes to do in 3 or 4 days. Once you bought the ticket for the park than it's needed a guide to go trekking. The very first day I did the Huellas de dinosaurios, the Vergel and than the canyon. It's a full day tour. In the morning we've walked through the dinosaurs footprints and then went for a swim in the river. The second part is along the canyon, where there are more footprints of some different species of dinosaurs. Very spectacular landscape. The second day it was about Ciudad de Itas and Caverna de Umajalanta. In the morning you will be able to see some prehistoric drawing on few rocks. You will heard the history of people living these regions much earlier than the arrival of the Inca. The afternoon is devoted to an excursion in a cave where stalactites and stalagmites are growing since billions of years. It can be hard to do. Not recommended for people with claustrophobia. ...
