Happy birthday to me 🎉🎉 One year travelling 😀

I don't speak a lot about my father but I feel now it is a good time to do it. I remember I was a child and we were coming back home from our farm. There was a crossroads and he asked me where we should go, left or right. And I said immediately right, firstly because I wanted to show I knew the road and secondly because I wanted to go playing football with my fiends. But my father told me "that is the direction. You always go to that direction", showing me the opposite direction. He starred on his left for few long seconds, watching nothing probably, and then he turned right. Then he added "because you don't know what it is expecting you if you go in that direction". We didn't speak until home. He left me confused.  Today it is a year I'm travelling. That was me outside the airport in Napoli, believing I was going away for 6 or 7  months. It is my travel-birthday. And what I liked the most about my travel is that I don't know wha...

Happy new year 🎉🎉🎉 travelling the happiness

It's 12.26am of the second of January 2019. And I'm just coming from 24hrs of absolute madness. The 31st of December went down pretty fast as the agency where I'm working at the moment was busy all the time. Worked till 11pm and then started partying with all my housemates. Weird there were grapes on the table. I have spent the night in a hostel outside the town: an electronic party with a swimming pool around. Pretty cool to end a fantastic year :) It has been hard for me to realize it was Christmas and then New Year. It's not the first time I spend these days away from Italy, but it is the very first time I feel all the distance between me and my hometown. On my Fb page, I wrote, in Italian , a post saying Happy new Year to all my Italian friends. Which was quite weird just because it is the very first time I did something like that. The liters of alcohol I managed to drink during the night halped me to remember a picture my closest friends use to have on t...

The legendary "Death road" ☠☠

Immagine
La ruta de la muerte is not just a legend, it's a real super dangerous road. And this is why Yes, this is my clavicle. I can say now I have south America stumped on my skin 😜 It uses to be the only road connecting La Paz with the Youngas region, but now it is mainly used by tourists and travellers. While in the 90's there were cars falling over the edge every 2weeks, now the accidents are "reduced" to about 20 people dead since the 2000. In fact it's now theatre of one of the most thrilling tour to book in La Paz. Tour operators take you outside La Paz where biking 64km downhill till Coroico. The panorama is beautiful although sometimes very scary. A small mistake going down the hill it would cost a life. A private insurance is mandatory I'd say it's still worth it. But make sure you book with the right tour company and ride very slow. My clavicle is ok btw 😁 the clinic was great and the nurses and staff were rea...

La Paz is not the capital of Bolivia 😂😂

Immagine
It's not the capital but in La Paz there are all the government offices, including the official residence of the President of Bolivia. Strange? Well, not as the number of the official languages. We can count about 36 idioms, but the ones still spoken are 14, including Spanish, Quechua, Aymara and other indigenous idioms. More, Bolivia is not a "one nation, one state" country, but a pluri-national state. In La Paz, I guess it's possible to see all this mix of culture, languages and background, which make of it a unique city. As unique it's its urban transport system, characterized by the so-called teleférico. It has 8 lines of different colours and can be used to fly over the city and skip the crazy Bolivian traffic jam. It has a vibrant life in the city center but it's also possible to visit some quiet place such as Valle de la luna, or the Muela del diablo, just outside the town. I'd recommend to visit the Coca museum, where to read all th...

Villa Tunari: jungle, monkeys and rivers

Immagine
Just 3 hours from Cochabamba, Villa Tunari is a whole new world. Tropical, hot and humid, it's the perfect place to enjoy the Bolivian Amazzonia. The small town is a touristic place for the rich people of Cochabamba, with many extra luxurious hotels. But there also plenty of activities to do here for a very cheap price. It's possible to have a swim in the Rio Padresama, or Rio Tres Arroyos. For the more adventurous people instead I'd suggest to do some rafting or ziplining. Pure adrenaline. Beautiful parks just on a walking distance from the town are Parque Machia and Parque Carrasco. Different species of monkeys, such us Capuchin and Spider monkey, are all around these parks. Be careful as some of them can steal your belongings. Well, as you know this is one of my favourite activity: Sabalo and Surubì, with some fried bananas. Villa Tunari is also where the political activity of Evo Morales started. So if you want to know more about hi...

Torotoro: the real Jurassic Park

Immagine
The National Park of Torotoro a magical place. There are few holes to do in 3 or 4 days. Once you bought the ticket for the park than it's needed a guide to go trekking. The very first day I did the Huellas de dinosaurios, the Vergel and than the canyon. It's a full day tour. In the morning we've walked through the dinosaurs footprints and then went for a swim in the river. The second part is along the canyon, where there are more footprints of some different species of dinosaurs. Very spectacular landscape. The second day it was about Ciudad de Itas and Caverna de Umajalanta. In the morning you will be able to see some prehistoric drawing on few rocks. You will heard the history of people living these regions much earlier than the arrival of the Inca. The afternoon is devoted to an excursion in a cave where stalactites and stalagmites are growing since billions of years. It can be hard to do. Not recommended for people with claustrophobia. ...
